Let's Talk About the 2021 Offseason Needs for... the NFC + AFC East - 1/29/21

I've got a new series idea for all of you. Every offseason, we are bombarded with mock drafts and guesses for where the top NFL Free Agents will sign once the league year opens in mid-to-late March. I love it all and count me among the people that have made that content in the past. But you know one of the things that really grinds my gears? "Team Needs". Creating mock drafts and trying to fit free agents with teams is hard enough and it always seems like whenever I take a look at the listed "team needs", they aren't always accurate. I started paying attention to it especially last year when people were mocking WRs to Miami in the 1st round and listing it as their #1 need. Miami didn't even take a WR in the draft last year (they traded for Lynn Bowden later and selected RB Malcolm Perry).  My point in this 4-week series is to get into the nitty-gritty of what teams want (where they want to upgrade) vs what teams need. I will look through the lenses of id

Fantasy Segment: Why HALF PPR is the Best Scoring Format - 1/27/21

The Big 3 of Fantasy Football sites are ESPN, Yahoo, and NFL.com. Most people that have played fantasy have likely played on ESPN at least once because of the simplicity of the platform. Yahoo is easily the 2nd most popular platform, and I would think that most hardcore fantasy players have used this platform at least once (I am one of the few that have not). And while NFL.com is part of the big 3, they are nowhere near the top. Why did I bring up these 3 sites in an article about 'Why Half PPR is best'? Because ESPN and NFL.com both use FULL PPR as their standard/default scoring. Yahoo uses Half. As of 2018 , ESPN had approximately 12M users and NFL had 3M users. There is probably some overlap there so let's call it 13.5M users. Yahoo had approximately 10M users in 2018. I know that not everyone uses standard scoring on these platforms, but the information for how many people play in private leagues is not public (how unironic of them). So for this exercise, we will just s

The Monday Minute: Championship Games Edition - 1/25/21

"How can there be so much news in the offseason? There are only a few teams playing games left!" I obviously knew that there would be coaching staff and front office re-adjustments, but I feel like we are seeing more news than normal. Maybe it is the QBs just creating news, even though there may be nothing there. Or more likely than that, the NFL is the #1 sport in the country and people just want to talk about. Regardless of which, I am happy because I can pick and choose what I want to talk about to you. Quick side note: If there is any football topic you would like my opinion on, shoot me a text, message on Twitter or post a comment about it. I'll be sure to include it in the next Monday Minute or maybe even make it into an in-depth Friday piece. __________________________________________________________________________ We have had one more Head Coaching hire since last Monday. The Eagles hired Nick Sirianni , the former Colts OC. It became apparent that the Eagles wer

Let's Talk About... the 2021 QB Carousel - 1/22/21

This isn't the first time I've written about QBs and it certainly won't be the last. They are the most important position in the NFL as they are the only player to touch the ball on every single play. But you all knew that. One thing you or I don't know is where some of these QBs are going to be playing next year.  Every year, there are all these QB rumors in the offseason (yet they never get traded). But something is going on this year where it feels like we may actually see some movement. I'm not sure if it is because the salary cap is going down, or if it has to do with NBA superstars getting out of situations they are unhappy with. Regardless of the reasoning, there has been a lot of rumors, whispers, and lies spread around the NFL. I'm gonna sift through it all and give you my opinion on who I think might be heading to a new city. Let's Talk About the 2021 QB Carousel. _______________________________________________________________ 2021 QB Carousel Firs

Fantasy Segment: Championship Players And How To Find Them - 1/20/21

Today we are going to discuss how to build a fantasy championship roster. We are going to take a look at 2020 League Winners and How to Find Them. I am the last person that should be writing this article because I haven't won a league in over 13 years now, and yes I am going to bring that up pretty much every Wednesday article. But you know what I blame my lack of success on? I don't know I just suck at fantasy tbh. I do all this studying and work in the preseason to have a great draft, scour the waiver wire, look for trades... but in the end, some people are just failures... So if you want to win your fantasy league in 2021 and beyond stop reading here. If you're all about disappointment, man, have you come to the right place. Let's dive in! __________________________________________________________________________ 2020 Championship Players To be able to talk about how to build a championship roster, we first need to figure out what championship players look like.
